Parking lots are the largest public spaces in Canada and are the last thing you would expect to see in the summer months.
That’s especially true in Ontario, where there’s no shortage of public spaces available for the outdoor entertainment industry.
With that in mind, an Ontario-based landscaping company is offering up a memorial for one of its employees to the people who lost their lives in the crash.
In honour of the day the man died, the company has planted some landscaping around the parking lot.
The company has put up flowers and markers in the parking lots of all the businesses that were hit by the car, including the mall.
It’s also donating money to the family of the deceased.
The parkers, who are from several different countries, are now working to spread the word about their project and to help make sure that everyone is aware of the incident.
“There’s no question that it’s a very sad day for many of us and I think we’re all really hoping that we can bring some closure to some of these families,” said Chris Sturgis, the co-founder of Parkers Garden, which started the project.
He added that the company was inspired to do this project after a couple of incidents where people were leaving flowers on the street for friends who had died.
“People would just take pictures and post them on Facebook, and we thought, well, let’s do something to make it more accessible for everyone.”
Parkers Garden has been helping to spread awareness about the incident by planting flowers in front of the accident scene.
“I’m really grateful for the community that has helped us,” said Sturgides.
