With the NBA season now over, here’s what we know.
What we do know: The New Orleans Pelicans and the Chicago Bulls will play the first game of the season on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m.
The Pelicans are 4-0 and have won six straight games.
The Bulls have won five straight, including two straight over the last three games.
Here are the biggest news and rumors heading into the first half of the 2017 NBA season.
The Pelicans won the first two games of their season series against the New Orleans Hornets and Atlanta Hawks.
The first game ended in a 114-112 victory for the Pelicans.
However, they then lost in double overtime in the opening game of their second round series with the Houston Rockets.
The first half was a blowout.
The Pelicans started off with a bang, winning all three games they played to close the regular season.
They were on a 12-0 run and dominated the first quarter of the first meeting with the Hawks.
They scored the first 10 points of the game.
However, the Hornets scored 21 points in the first 12 minutes of the second half to take a 66-59 lead.
That would be the only lead in the game, as the Pelicans scored just 12 points over the final 2:30 of the half.
After that first half, the Pelicans went on a nine-game winning streak and won nine of their last 11.
On the flip side, the Hawks were able to hold on for the final two games.
They lost to the Miami Heat 103-91 in the final game of that streak.
The Hornets went on to win the Western Conference championship, which ended the team’s three-game losing streak.
The Hornets’ last win over the Pelicans came in the opener of the 2018 NBA season, a 105-89 victory in New Orleans.
Pelicans’ point guard Montrezl Harrell is one of the best guards in the league.
He led the NBA in scoring, assists and steals for the season, according to Basketball-Reference.
Nets’ forward Joel Embiid is one the NBA’s top rebounders.
Higgins has made a habit of posting career highs in rebounds, steals and blocks.
He is tied for the league lead in blocks with 7.
Averaging 8.4 points per game this season, he’s averaging more than 20 rebounds per game and is averaging 11.3 assists per game.
He has a career average of 8.2 rebounds per contest and has hit more than two 3-pointers per contest.
LeBron James is averaging 23.3 points per contest, ranking fourth in the NBA.
James is averaging a career high in assists per contest with 9.3 per game, and is shooting better than 47 percent from the field and 45 percent from 3-point range.
Kemba Walker, who is averaging 8.3 rebounds per night, is leading the league in blocks per contest at 5.1 per contest on a career-high 20.3 boards per game while ranking third in points per-game.
DeAndre Jordan has played in six straight postseason games for the Nets.
He leads the NBA with seven double-doubles this season.
His 11.4 blocks per game are the most by a Nets’ player in a single season since the team moved to Brooklyn in 2014.
Bryan Colangelo is the head coach of the Miami Marlins.
Colangelo has led the Marlins to their second-ever World Series appearance and first since 2007.
With his team on the brink of elimination from the playoffs, he is now the longest-tenured coach in the American League.
He’s led the team to a .500 record since joining the Marlins in the offseason.
Marlins’ head coach Mike Redmond has led his team to five straight playoff appearances.
Redmond is also the longest active coach in Major League Baseball.
Mariners third baseman Jose Altuve is one one of baseball’s top offensive players, having led the majors with a .330 batting average and 23 homers in the 2017 season.
His 18 home runs this season are tied for second most in the Majors.
Altuve has an average of 11 homers per season since joining his hometown team in 2017.
Atlanta Hawks forward Paul Millsap is one with the highest career average in the Eastern Conference at .311.
At 6-foot-9, Millsap has led Atlanta to the top of the Eastern standings for the last four seasons.
Despite playing for the defending Eastern Conference champions, Millsaps career is off to a slow start.
In his first season with the Atlanta Hawks, Millsapped posted a .266 clip with 18 home run and 43 RBIs.
He also posted a career best .351 batting average.
Millsap has not been a prolific offensive threat in his first few seasons with the team.
